About Primered Black
We provide professional collision, restoration, and customization services to the Asheville area. We specialize in custom paint, real metal flake, and fabrication of motorcycles and cars.
We offer custom metal fabrication in steel and aluminum. As well as, rust remediation for classic and modern vehicles.
2008 - Primered Black Inc was born
2011 - Moved into paint shop location in Asheville, NC
2012 - Primered Black became Joe’s full-time job.
2016 - Expanded into 2nd building (same location) to provide metal fabrication, mechanical, and rust remediation.
2019 - Moved to Canton location, a 9000 sqft historical river rock building in downtown Canton, NC
2021- Tropical Storm Fred flooded Canton and the surrounding communities. The shop experienced a devastating 6 feet of water through the shop.
2023 - The shop in Canton, NC has completed repairs from the flood. A new office area, new bathroom, and several other upgrades were made in the re-building process.
About Joe - Owner
Joe was born and raised in Asheville, NC. At an early age he had a passion for taking apart anything he could get his hands on. By the time he was in high school, he knew his passion was in cars. He took every automotive class he could and had an internship with a local dealership. After attending a trade school he returned to Asheville to work in a dealership as a mechanic. He became “bored” and started to branch out into motorcycles and body work. He started Primered Black in 2008 as a custom paint shop. He focused on airbrushing, metal flake, and custom paint for motorcycles and cars. In 2010, Joe took a full-time position in a production body shop to learn more about collision repair and production painting. He left the production shop in 2012 to re-focus on Primered Black full time. He took what he learned from the body shop and added to what was self-taught to create what the business is known for today - A reputable collision shop that specializes in custom and classic repair and restoration. Along the way his niche has expanded into custom fabrication of parts that are not reproduced and rust remediation in classic and modern cars.
